Randox wins place at House of Lords-hosted International Trade competition

(iTechWire.Org) – RANDOX Laboratories (“Randox”) will represent Northern Ireland when it heads to the House of Lords later this month to compete in the UK-wide 2010 International Trade Awards sponsored by HSBC.

The Antrim-based independent medical diagnostics company beat off stiff local competition to win the regional heat and will now travel to London on March 23rd to battle it out against 11 other regions for title of International Trade Company of the Year.

Run by internationaltrade.co.uk, the awards are the only national business awards in the UK exclusively for exporters and importers. All regional finalists will be treated to a private tour of the House of Lords followed by a luncheon hosted by Lord Haskel, a former Government spokesman on trade and industry.

Dr Peter Fitzgerald, Randox Managing Partner said: “To be invited to the House of Lords is in itself an honour but to represent Northern Ireland and be shortlisted alongside 11 other national companies, all of whom are at the forefront of the UK’s trading future, is a tremendous accolade and testament to the hard work of each and every one of our staff.

Ian Campbell OBE, Chairman of the Judges, said: “Randox Laboratories are revolutionising healthcare through their continuous improvement of diagnostics solutions. Throughout their 28 years in business sales turnover has increased year after year as a result of new product development and a refocusing of their business in the world laboratory market. In 2006 international sales constituted 95% of Randox total sales. This market has continued to grow with 34% growth in recent years.

Mr Campbell added; “Randox have a very strong R&D ethos with 180 staff dedicated to this department and reinvests 17% of annual revenue in continuous improvement of the field of diagnostics, making them a worthy Northern Ireland winner”.
